Father’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world to honor the role of fathers, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. In Australia and New Zealand, Father’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of September.
No matter where you are in the world, we wanted to take this moment to send blessings to you and all the wonderful males in your life. To your dads, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, teachers, neighbours – each who bring their unique character strengths and talents to the world.
Dad’s Word Cloud – Our First Gift to You
To celebrate Father’s Day we’ve created a ‘Character Strengths Word Cloud’. The printable cloud contains over 150 character strengths to inspire you and let your dad or father-figures know about the virtues that they have shared and sparked within you.
You can download a high resolution copy of the Dad’s Character Strengths Word Cloud to keep, or share with those men that fulfil the role of ‘dad’ in your life.
The Important Role of Fathers
We now know of the important and unique role of father’s in parenting with much research that shows the difference dads make in the character development of babies and children.
“One of the most significant changes in the science of fathering is the recognition that father-infant relationships can have a positive impact on how infants develop. The idea that an infant’s attachment with their father is fundamental to how their brain and behaviour develop represents a major shift in how we view parents.” Australian Fatherhood Research Network
Discussions on Fatherhood – Our Second Gift to You
To find out more about what dads think about fatherhood and the strengths they draw upon in that role, we have a special gift for you this Father’s Day. From now until the end of September we are offering all friends of embrace virtues a free download of ‘Tools for Fathering CD Two’.
‘Tools for Fathering’ was created for dads, by dads and covers issues relevant to new fathers, such as the expectations of fatherhood; early days with a newborn; and growing confidence in the role as a new dad. The CD also provides triggers for reflection on the role of fathers in our society. They are frank and honest conversations by a mix of men, sharing stories of their struggles and triumphs along their way.
To hear a sample of the dads in conversation you can listen to an excerpt of the CD by clicking on the image below.
The download link will be available until the end of September 2013. It is in the format of a zip folder containing 6 Tracks. The total file size is 44.9MB.
If you would prefer to receive a hardcopy of the CD in the mail, we can do that too! Drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know.
We hope you enjoy these gifts, and wish you a Happy Father’s Day as you celebrate, honour, affirm and acknowledge the many virtues that dads and father-figures bring to the world.
Father’s Day wishes to you from the embrace virtues team
